The FCA US LLC is already getting ready to unveil the next-generation Jeep Wrangler sometime later this year but that doesn’t mean that it’s done with its current lineup just yet. This new 2017 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon offers upgrades to the chassis and axles, along with some other adjustments, to make it more off-ready than ever. And if you’re in the market for a new Jeep SUV, this one just might be right for you.
One big change comes in the form of a beefier front axle which makes the vehicle more durable under stressful conditions. Placed behind a new cast front and rear differentials covers is also a new gear set which is nice and snug. To better help you clear any obstacles, the rock rails have been modified to accommodate large 35-inch tires.
Of course, this wouldn’t be a special edition Jeep Wrangler Rubicon without a few cosmetic tweaks as well. This model gets front and rear tow hooks which are painted a bright red and contrast nicely to the black front grille and “Jeep” badging. Also available are wheels which are painted Granite Crystal, wrapped by beefy 32-inch BF Goodrich KM off-road tires.
