Jeep® models are an interesting sort. They range from luxury SUV with the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee to perfectly rugged with the 2018 Jeep Wrangler. But this long-standing tribute to an American automotive innovation isn’t keen on letting anyone hanging.
That’s where the 2017 Jeep Renegade comes in. This subcompact-crossover may just be the answer for drivers who want a little bit of everything. If you like riding high like you would in an SUV, the off-road prowess that a Jeep Wrangler brings, and some of the refinement that a Jeep Grand Cherokee espouses, this model may be right for you.
While there aren’t many major changes from the 2016 model year, some advancements have made the 2017 Jeep Renegade more enticing. Keyless Go, the Jeep model version of push-button start, is now standard across all models. Passive entry with remote start is now standard on the Jeep Renegade Limited trim, and both HID and automatic high-beam headlights were added to the options list.
The 2017 Jeep Renegade can be outfitted with either a turbocharged 1.4-liter inline four engine that puts out 160 horsepower or a 2.4-liter inline four engine that puts out 180 horsepower. There are two all-wheel-drive systems available: Active Drive and Active Drive Low.
While the engines aren’t the most powerful, the Jeep Renegade excels in other areas. And after all, it’s built for both off-roading and comfort. Steering is quick and there’s minimal body roll around corners. Ride comfort is also pleasant and more akin to the automaker’s larger SUVs. Additionally, the highly competent Uconnect® infotainment system provides quick response time, easy navigation, and plenty of connectivity options including Apple CarPlay® and Android® Auto.
If you’re looking for a Jeep SUV that does a little bit of everything in a compact body, check out the 2017 Jeep Renegade. Head on down to 1859 Golden Isles West today for a test drive.
