Here at Woody Folsom Chrysler Dodge Jeep® RAM, we put a lot of stock in our new cars for sale. That’s because they’ve stood the test of time and have proven that they are worthy vehicles ready for any task at hand. Whether it’s a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee or a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, your needs will be met and your expectations exceeded.

And it’s no secret that here, as the dealer with the largest selection of RAM trucks for sale in the state of Georgia that we love a good truck like the 2017 RAM 1500. So we thought it would be fun to look back at the history of one of our favorite trucks and see how it became one of the best options today for drivers looking for a pickup truck that’s capable of handling any task while still providing all the creature comforts.

The RAM truck name started in 1981 under the Dodge brand, though we can trace their ancestors all the way back to 1917. As far back as 1933 the automaker at the time actually used a ram’s head ornament to characterize these trucks as rugged. And even in 1981, you could get your truck with two- or four-wheel drive, and in a standard or crew cab format. So what made these new RAM trucks different? Already they featured fresh sheet metal which helped them to better resist rust and make them weigh less than previous versions. They featured a bold body that included bulging fenders and an egg-crate style grille with single headlights.

Over the years these trucks would continually see improvements in looks and engine capability until 1994 when the all-new RAM truck was introduced. This year would mark the beginning of a new generation, one that we still see today. A whole new rugged look accompanied by a powerful engine lineup combined with a car-like interior would serve as the beginning for what we expect in a RAM truck today.

To see how far the RAM truck has come from its humble yet rugged beginnings, head on down to 1859 Golden Isles West today and schedule a test drive.
