This year marks the 75th anniversary for Jeep® automobiles. Considering when and why they were created, this is quite the accomplishment, as well as a testament to American heritage and tradition. Here at Woody Folsom Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, we love being able to offer our Baxley, GA area drivers with a wide selection of the finest American made automobiles out on the road. From offering one of the widest selections of RAM trucks in Georgia to the iconic 2016 Jeep Wrangler, we’ve got it all.
The Jeep Wrangler is both out-of-time and timeless. Its Spartan frame and sturdy engineering were born out of utility and necessity. Yet, it still caters to drivers of all types today for its off-road ruggedness and unique feel.
While the Jeep Wrangler wasn’t the original model made for the military during World War II– that was actually the Jeep Willys MB– it has its roots in the same mud. So to commemorate the 75th anniversary, Jeep automakers have actually made a WWII-themed Jeep Wrangler.
Before you get your hopes up and conjure up images of driving your own WWII Jeep Wrangler through rough terrain, it’s unfortunately only being built as a one-off concept, but that doesn’t make it any less of an awesome vehicle. It’s being built on the base 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sport trim and features several fun tweaks.
Major changes include the removal of the roll bar and doors, and the addition of an olive-green paint job, the same color that the old Willys MB sported. The vehicle is officially called the 75th Jeep Wrangler Salute. It also sports a military star on the hood as well as a stamp of the date it came to life, notated as “20160715”, 75 years after the U.S. government contracted Willys-Overland to build the World War II Willys MB.
